The Future Of Tesla’s Mobile Service Fleet
CleanTechnica · Kyle Field · 2 hours ago
Tesla continues to ramp up its Mobile Service fleet, with a mix of existing Ford Transit vans, Model S sedans, and a few Model X SUVs. The Ford Transit vehicles that have comprised the majority of Tesla's service fleet since its inception cost $80,000 to set up, but that price tag turns the empty shell of a van into an extremely dense, highly effective mobile service station for Tesla's vehicles. More recently, the company has started repurposing a few Model S vehicles coming back from lease as mobile service vehicles...

Tesla Model 3 owner creates a novel DIY solution for a supercharged Sentry Mode

To say that Tesla’s electric cars are among the auto industry’s most tech-focused vehicles is a gross understatement. Being computers on wheels, the electric car maker’s vehicles are capable of gaining new features over time. And just like with all things tech, these features, such as the security-focused Sentry Mode, are bound to get improvements after their release. Introduced back in February, Sentry Mode taps into a Tesla’s suite of cameras to provide a set of watchful eyes around a vehicle while its owner is away. Videos captured by the feature have already been proven useful, with law enforcement using...

Tesla is the benevolent harbinger of doom for fossil-fueled cars
Teslarati · Dacia J. Ferris · 13 hours ago
It’s obvious by now that Tesla is having a major impact on the automotive world, and this seems to be most felt in places where emissions regulations are tightening up in a big way. The state of California, for example, has a regulatory scheme that forces some major car makers into buying greenhouse gas (GHG) credits, and Europe’s impending CO2 restrictions are going to mean creative hoop jumping if manufacturers hope to avoid their fines. Despite this fine-print qualifying, Tesla isn’t exactly sitting on the bleachers gloating in these companies’ attempts at compliance. Rather, they’re shepherding the changes and gaining...
